John Bigley '75 retired this year after practicing 35 years as an Internal Medicine/Critical Care Specialist with the Southern California Permanente Medical Group. During that time, he was chosen to be the first Chief of Internal Medicine for the Kaiser Permanente Baldwin Park Medical Center and was given the responsibility for starting the Internal Medicine Department along with all of its subspecialties at that site. After a decade in that role, he was elevated by his colleagues to oversee the medical center with its outlying clinics and became the longest sitting Medical Director and Chief of Staff within Southern California Kaiser Permanente system. In retirement, he now enjoys his time taking painting classes, practicing his guitar, exercising more and spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.
