Reality Fair
We are excited to share that the counseling team will be piloting our Reality Fair next Wednesday, March 23rd during the Mentor period (for sophomores only).
What’s a Reality fair? The purpose of the Reality Fair is for students to see the connection between career and potential earnings/lifestyle. Basically, it’s a game meant to help students understand the cost of living and the choices they will make in adulthood.
Here's how it'll work:
On Wednesday, March 23rd students will first check in with their Mentor teachers and will be randomly given a career profile and salary. They will then proceed to the dining hall for the fair.
In the dining hall, students will rotate through six stations (in any order) that include things like housing, bills, car, grocery, and entertainment, to make their purchases and update their budget sheet accordingly.
The goal of the game is to have a zero-dollar balance or money left over after all the expenses (and earn a candy, yum!)
Our goal is to facilitate our students’ growth as they learn the connection between career choices, living expenses, and having to make adult decisions - all in a fun and interactive way!
We can’t wait to see you!
