La Salle Introduces New Boys Basketball Head Coach Brandon Lincoln and Bids Farewell to Longtime Coach Mike Lynch

Today, La Salle College Preparatory announced the selection of Brandon Lincoln as the school’s new boys basketball head coach, effective March 11, 2022. Already a familiar face at La Salle, serving as the school’s athletic director, Lincoln's selection as boys basketball head coach comes during an exciting time with the Lancer athletic program.

Prior to his arrival in Southern California, Lincoln coached collegiately as an assistant men’s basketball coach at Miami University (Ohio), Montana State University, and at his alma mater, the University of Oregon. After seven years coaching at the collegiate level, Lincoln spent four years building a competitive program at Providence High School in Burbank. Lincoln’s basketball teams at Providence enjoyed success, including back-to-back Prep League titles and back-to-back CIF State and Southern Section tournament appearances. In 2019, Lincoln was named the CIF Southern Section Division IV Coach of the Year. In addition to his professional coaching career, Lincoln was a stand-out basketball athlete at the high school, collegiate and professional levels, playing for the University of Oregon and continuing his career with the ETB Wohnbau Baskets in Essen, Germany.

“In addition to my responsibilities as athletic director, this is a great opportunity to get in the trenches with our great coaches to impact our school in a positive way. I look forward to establishing even stronger relationships with our talented student-athletes and building a program our school community can be proud of,” said Lincoln.

Lincoln’s selection as La Salle’s boys' basketball head coach was prompted by the recent announcement from Coach Mike Lynch who, after 26 years of coaching high school basketball, announced his retirement from coaching on February 23, 2022. Prior to his seven years as La Salle’s head coach, Lynch had secured 10 Southern Section championships and six state championships, in addition to winning 626 games as a high school coach. After his retirement from coaching, Lynch plans to continue helping young people through his nonprofit, “A Coach Is”.

“La Salle and the local basketball community are extremely grateful and thankful for Coach Lynch’s hall-of-fame career, which includes his love and service as a coach, mentor, and community leader,” said La Salle’s principal, Jamal Adams. “We are equally thrilled for Brandon and the tremendous opportunity to continue the work Coach Lynch had started during his time at La Salle”, he added.
