La Salle Establishes CARLOW Center for Medical Innovation with $1million Grant
With our Strategic Plan in place, and with a transformational grant of $1million from the Carrico Family Foundation, La Salle College Preparatory was able to establish the CARLOW Center for Medical Innovation.
The Carlow Center for Medical Innovation is located in a newly constructed facility created with hospital and medical research interiors. Inside, students will practice laboratory skills in our biological specimen lab and complete real-world simulations on our newly acquired SIMX VR Medical Simulation applications.
La Salle is the first school in the country to partner with SIMX to develop personalized virtual reality medical simulations for skills training.
Students will also conduct basic laboratory research to study immortal cell lines to better understand the development of cancerous cells in our new Cancer Center Lab.
In collaboration with our STEAM Design Lab, using our 3D Printing and Design resources, our Medical Innovation students have access to the Creaform HandyScan 3D Laser Scanner to help create one-of-a-kind prosthetics for pediatric patients in our new Prosthetics Center.
The Medical Innovation Pathway at the CARLOW Center provides students with opportunities to participate in internships, professional development experiences, academic research, and other experiential learning opportunities for individuals interested in Health Care professions.
We are thankful for the gift of this grant and we are excited for our future here at La Salle and are proud of how We Redefine Learning for our students to Learn, Serve, and Lead.
