Ready to dive into what’s new?
OMG, time flies by. I can’t believe we already have Halloween, Thanksgiving, and the winter break on the horizon! I hope everyone’s fall semester has been as wonderful and productive as ours here at the Center for Cultural Perspectives.
Following another super busy summer with our students traveling to different places and studying overseas, we kicked off the new academic year with a robust lineup of programs.
A new partnership in China – Hello, Shanghai!
Our intercultural exchange programs are thriving, and we recently had the honor of hosting a new visiting school from Shanghai, China! In October, 11 students and 2 teachers from the Shanghai Soong Ching Ling School spent an incredible week with us, and it was truly an experience to remember. Not only did we get to know each student’s unique personality and curiosity about our culture, but we also witnessed how naturally they adapted, blending seamlessly into our campus community. Each day brought new, inspiring moments as they connected with our teachers and students, making it hard to believe they were visiting! It’s amazing to see how students worldwide can find a sense of belonging with us so quickly.
Adventures Abroad: New Destinations Await!
While hosting visiting students is always a joy, we’re equally thrilled to have our students and faculty prepare for their own international adventures. This year, we’re off to Spain, France, and—for the first time—Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Shanghai, China. And next year? We’re keeping a few new destinations under wraps for now, but stay tuned!
In addition, the summer independent study now offers career-focused options in over 35 locations worldwide. Imagine immersing yourself in fields from aerospace engineering and creative writing to marine biology and global entrepreneurship. Whether it’s language, culture, or career-specific learning, there’s something for everyone—and trust me, it’s hard to resist these incredible opportunities!
Academic and Personal Growth Close to Home
Not all adventures require a passport and thousands of miles of flying, though! Our Global Studies students excel in dual-enrollment courses with Pasadena City College, diving deeper into global perspectives and critical issues. For those interested in public speaking, policy, and international affairs, the Harvard Model Congress offers an unmatched platform to hone skills and make connections. This year, our La Salle Global Scholars pathway program is in full swing, guiding students toward competency in global awareness and setting them on paths that will shape their futures.
Discovering the World and Yourself
As I wrap up this whirlwind tour of the Center’s opportunities, I want to leave you with one thought: participating in these programs might just be one of the most impactful experiences of your high school years. Global collaboration and cultural understanding are invaluable skills in a world that’s evolving faster than ever. The Center for Cultural Perspectives is here to help you write your story—not just for high school, but for life.
So, are you ready? All it takes is two Ps: your Passion and a valid Passport! If you have both, let’s chat about your next adventure with the Center. We’re thrilled about the journeys ahead and can’t wait for you to join us.
