We're Expanding!

Here at the Center for Cinematic Arts, we have hit the ground running for the 2024-25 school year. Our summer was very busy as we built the room across the hall from our original studio into additional center space and created two wings for our Center. The original center space, which we now refer to as the black room, is strictly for producing and housing our production equipment. Additionally, we cleaned our cyc wall and reorganized the space to make it conducive to production. Across the hall, in what we are calling the blue room, we have built out a classroom space that serves as our Pre- and Post-Production space. Along with our brainstorming space, we re-created the Editing Lab with our Apple iMacs fitted with the full Adobe Creative Suite.

Regarding programming in the center, we have a few updates as well. In addition to what we were already doing last year, we have added two new teams to our Center. The first is our Lancer Sports Photo/Video team. Students on this team will be capturing highlights and photos from our athletic events throughout the year. On top of that, we are currently working on getting a live stream up and running at all of our home games at La Salle; our first test run went very well during our Homecoming Football game just a few weeks ago. Boys and Girls basketball season is just around the corner, and we hope that we can help boost the energy around our sports teams by providing access to our games even if they can’t make it. Keep an eye out for more information about this coming down the line! Secondly, we have launched our editing class called Adobe Professional Certification. By completing this class, you can sharpen your editing skills and get college credit, make yourself more marketable to producers and directors, and start your career by landing jobs as a video editor. While we are only in the first stages of this class, I am excited to see what kind of editors we can produce out of our Center through this program. Especially for those starting this program as a freshman or sophomore, they will have the opportunity to master Level 1 Premiere Pro (video editing) and possibly an additional app in the Adobe Suite by the time they graduate from La Salle.

I am confident that we will continue to grow our center throughout this year and keep adding and fine-tuning our center offerings best to accommodate all of the interests of our students.
