Blood Drive
Our Student Life Service Team partnered with Huntington Hospital to host a blood drive on-campus in the Duffy Lewis Gymnasium. We want to thank all of the members of our community who signed up to donate. With every donation, it helps save up to three lives! Way to go, Lancers!

Lunar New Year Celebration
On February 3, 2022, our school community gathered to celebrate Lunar New Year! Festivities were in full swing, with lion dance and student performances, a dance competition, and a dumpling making contest! There were also booths that displayed traditional games, such as Mahjong, calligraphy lessons, and a wishing tree!

Catholic Schools Week
The week of January 31st, students celebrated Catholic Schools Week with themed dress-up days, lunchtime activities, and service drives. On Monday donations of new and used stuffed animals went to Children’s Hospital LA and the Humane Society. Tuesday’s donations of new socks went to Farmworkers. On Wednesday, donations of gently used blankets were given to Union Station. On Thursday, food donations were given to both Friends in Deed and St. Andrew’s parish food pantry. On Friday, students collected gently used books for middle school students and those were donated to the Ronald McDonald House in Pasadena.

National Scholastic Art and Writing Winners
The National Scholastic Art and Writing Competition is the largest and most prestigious art competition in the nation. Each year thousands of students across the country enter for a chance to win scholarships, publication opportunities, and national recognition. Past winners have included Andy Warhol, Sylvia Plath and Steven King. Black History Month Installation
La Salle’s sculpture classes learned about the importance of the Sankofa bird to begin La Salle's month-long celebration of Black History Month. The sankofa bird, a widely used symbol in Ghana, has his head looking back with his feet pointing forward to represent the need to reflect on our past to build a successful future. Each student created a bird sculpture in flight which were hung as a class to demonstrate a great migration. The student work is on display along the third floor hallway.

Academic Decathlon Success
On February 5th, 35 students (5 teams) competed in Academic Decathlon in seven events: Art, Music, Social Science, Science, Economics, Literature, and Mathematics. After yet another year of a mostly on-line tournament, the Lancers garnered 70 individual medals and a bronze medal for Division I. The Division II squad won a ridiculous 27 medals led by sophomore John Burgess with seven medals (six gold!), junior Andrew Lai with four medals (three gold!), and junior Sofia Mena with five medals (one gold!).
