Mock Trial Captains Attend UCLA Mock Trial Summer Institute Program
Thanks to the support of the Lancer Lawyer Alumni Network (LLAN), Mock Trial Captains, Matthew Toth and MaKayla Martinez, attended the UCLA Mock Trial Summer Institute Program for college credit. The captains joined other top-ranked individuals from around the United States in the program with seminars on subjects such as law and advocacy, direct and cross-examination techniques, objections and the rules of evidence, effective and credible witness portrayal, and sessions with members of the UCLA Mock Trial Team. Academic Decathlon Team Heads to Prague
Congrats to La Salle’s Academic Decathlon team, who took the top five spots in the Regional Round at the World Scholars Cup back in May. On August 17th, nine of the valiant Lancer Scholars headed off to Prague to compete in the Global Round of the World Scholars Cup. They are a force to be reckoned with! Arts Alumni Gathering
On August 6, 2022, members of La Salle's Performing Arts alumni community gathered for a reunion at Porticos Art Space, where many past performances by La Salle's theatre, choir, dance, band and strings programs took place. Alumni from graduation years spanning 2002 - 2022 were invited to reconvene and meet other alumni from other programs. Many even reconnected with former La Salle teachers including Nancy Doede, David Paul Needles, Phil Velasco, Dr. Doug Rynerson and Dr. Jude Lucas. La Salle Partners with the Huntington Library, Art Museum and Botanical Gardens
La Salle College Preparatory has been accepted as one of the latest partners of The Huntington Library, Art Museum and Botanical Gardens. Mrs. Kate Williams (Visual Art Department Chair) and Mr. MJ Mao (Global Programs Coordinator) created a proposal directly for La Salle’s Visual Art Program. This partnership will allow students to have an experiential learning platform that focuses on analyzing The Huntington’s current exhibitions while also having students dive deeper into the concept of their own identity through works of art. Longtime faculty member Ed O'Connor received the "Making a Difference Award" in June for his dedicated years of service and contributions to Young Lasallian Programming in the Lasallian District of San Francisco New Orleans (and the legacy San Francisco District). On Thursday, August 11, 2022, La Salle College Preparatory dedicated the Lam Family Amphitheater in recognition of a $250,000 gift from David Lam, President and CEO of Mediverse International, Inc. A former member of the Board of Regents at La Salle, Mr. Lam's gift was directed to the Richard Gray Memorial Scholarship in support of the School's San Miguel Scholarship Program. a scholarship program that supports those students at La Salle whose families live below the federal poverty line. Welcome Back to School Lancers!
Monday was a busy day on campus as we welcomed our Lancers back from their summer vacations! The excitement was palpable as we were able to see new and familiar faces as our students gathered for the many events during the day. After meeting with their mentor groups, everyone headed to the dining hall for the Feast of Assumption prayer service, showed off their smiles for school pictures, and wrapped the day up with a quick rally.We look forward to a full day of classes tomorrow and an amazing school year to come.
