Eaton Fire Update #2 - January 8, 2025

Message from the President’s Office - January 8, 2025

Dear La Salle Community,

Today, we continue to pray for all those impacted by the Eaton Canyon Fire and other wildfires raging across the region. As the sun rose this morning, we quickly recognized the devastation caused by these fires, especially in the areas immediately surrounding La Salle. While we are grateful that our campus remained safe and unharmed throughout the evening, the same cannot be said for many members of our community who suffered the tremendous loss of their homes overnight and into today. Please keep these families in your prayers as they navigate this unimaginable loss. Below, I’d like to share a few updates with you as we learn more about this ongoing situation. All updates will also be posted to a dedicated page on our website at http://lasallehs.org/eatonfire.

Community Assistance Form and School Operations

Please know that the safety and well-being of our entire school community is our top priority. As mentioned in our previous message, all school and campus activities, including on and off-campus athletics and our faculty/staff retreat on January 10th, have been suspended until further notice.

As of today, January 8th, we are planning to open the school on Monday, January 13th, for students who need to be dropped off due to parent/guardian work obligations. However, classes will be postponed till Tuesday, January 14th, at the earliest, pending safe air/environmental ratings. Please know that our school attendance policies will not be in effect and that families should only bring students to school if it is safe to do so and are able to. At this time, our highest priority is ensuring that our current families, faculty, staff, and the greater community are safe and can devote any resources necessary to secure their well-being and care for themselves, loved ones, and neighbors.

In the spirit of our school mission, we’d like to gather information regarding 1) those who have been directly impacted by the wildfires and 2) if you are able to provide assistance to those who have been directly impacted. If you were impacted by the fires or can provide assistance to those who are impacted, please complete the below form:
