Lancer Drama’s production of LUCKY STIFF receives 15 JRAY Nominations!

Hi everyone!

Each year for the past three years, our annual Lancer Drama musical has been entered into the John Raitt Awards for Youth. This program is essentially CIF for high school musical theater- 24 musicals at high schools in Orange, Los Angeles, and Riverside Counties were chosen to be adjudicated this year. Many of the schools that participate are considered to be the best high schools for performing arts in Southern California. In previous years, we’ve been nominated for seven total- four for Ride the Cyclone in 2024, and three for Oklahoma in 2025.

Last night, we found out our recent production of Lucky Stiff has been nominated for 15 (!!!!!) John Raitt Awards.

Our nominations include…

Best Sound Design: Nicholas Byszewski
Best Costume Design: Malina Huen and Isabella Liu
Best Set Design: The La Salle Stagecraft Class.
Best Lighting Design: Grady Van Buren
Best Student Stage Manager: Nicholas Byszewski
Best Graphic Design: Nicholas Byszewski and Emma Salazar
Outstanding Ensemble Member: Kamya Blair
Outstanding Ensemble Member: Adrian Domkus
Featured Actor in a Male Role: Bryce Patterson
Supporting Actor in a Female Role: Quinn Duvall
Lead Actor in a Male Role: Antonio Camara
Best Ensemble
Best Student Orchestra: Greg Ziomek
Best Direction of a Musical: Brian Drummy
Best Musical Production

This is on top of Antonio Camara being nominated for their Broadway Artists Alliance Scholarship earlier this spring, which sends four students each summer to New York City to train at one of the world’s best acting studios. The “BAA” is the highest award offered by the JRAYs, and Antonio is one of only a handful of finalists for the award.

These nominations are a huge testament to the students who came together and made this production happen. Please join me in congratulating them on this incredible achievement. And THANK YOU for your continued support!
